Last week Epson Canada hired us to test the Moverio BT-300FPV Smart Glasses and give our thoughts.
These are of special interest to us since Transport Canada requires that drone pilots maintain line-of-sight with their aircraft. We don’t always have a spotter available since our creative approach is frequently run-and-gun.
These smart glasses are DJI-certified and come in a small, lightweight case ideal for camera bag storage.
Setup was straightforward, though the touch panel took us a few minutes to get used to.
It is important to note with this device you no longer need to connect your smartphone to monitor the flight. The built-in rechargeable battery lasts up to 6 hours, so we don’t need to worry about our phones being charged when we go to fly the drone.
We found the glasses to be usable in all lighting conditions. They come with a clip-on dark lens shade for use in sunny conditions.
Overall we were happy with this accessory for drone flying. I can see these being an integral part of every professional’s gear bag in the future.
Thank you to Epson for giving us the opportunity to try out the Moverio Smart Glasses.
